African Americans have had a checkered past with agriculture in the US. As the descendants of enslaved labor, farming just rubs many the wrong way. However, the trend toward organic and all things "green" has seen a resurgence of African Americans returning to farming. Farming as a means of supplying affordable, nutrient dense whole foods. Farming as a means to combat the ravaging obesity epidemic. Farming as a means of economic recovery in blighted urban areas.
